To carry a firearm and be your own first responder is your absolute, unalienable right, but with that right comes responsibility. The responsibility of understanding use of force laws. The responsibility of understanding your firearm. The responsibility to get trained.
Pistol Basics
In this 2 hour class, you'll learn basic marksmanship skills:
Safety First: Before handling a firearm, we'll drill into the 4 universal safety rules.
Stance: Adopting a stable shooting stance enhances accuracy and recoil control. We'll talk through a couple of common shooting stances and discuss some pros and cons to each.
Grip: While there's not really a right way or a wrong way to grip a pistol, there are more effective ways to hold the firearm for stability and control.
Sight Alignment and Picture: Proper alignment of the sights ensures accurate aim, and we'll talk about what that's supposed to look like.
Breath Control: We do it all day, every day. Breathe. But breathing causes our body to move around. We'll talk about how we can control that movement a bit.
Trigger Control: Proper trigger control helps maintain sight alignment and prevents unnecessary movement. We'll talk about the mechanics and process of a good trigger press.
Follow-Through: Don't worry about where you hit the target, let things calm naturally. Just like a baseball player follows through on the swing, or a quarterback will follow through on their pass, shooting requires a follow through as well.
Practice and Training: We'll get some range time to practice these new skills, and talk about how you can practice at home and on the range.
